Tropical Coast

A short drive from Granada is the 'Costa Tropical', with is particularly picturesque beaches, where it is easy to get away from the crowds. The mountains run right down to the sea and the coast line is typically a series of coves and promontories. There is La Herradura which is pretty and unspoilt and is located between the two attractive promontories of Punta de la Mona and Cerro Gordo. Nearby in a protective cove east of Punta de la Mona is the impressive Marina del Este yacht harbour. Water sports and scuba diving are popular here, thanks to the variety of sea live and clarity of the water. The white village of Salobrena is worth a visit. Here you will be torn between visiting the Moorish castle and the beach. The sugar cane plantations here confirm the name Costa Tropical.

Nature Parks

Exhausting all city options there are many other exciting options, such as hiking in the foothills of Sierra Nevada, known as Las Alpujarras. For the more adventurous the area is ideal for rock climbing, mountain biking and paragliding.

Cubillas Lake

Situate within 10 minutes walk from Medina Elvira is the Cubillas Lake, surrounded by pine forests with views of the Sierra Nevada mountains as back drop. Cubillas is a large lake with sandy beaches ideal for Swimming, fishing and all types of water sports including sailing. The surrounding pine forests are ideal for pick nicks in any of the designated areas, or for a leisurely walk or cycle ride through the scenic pathways.

Sierra Nevada

One of Europe’s highest mountains ranges is only 30 minutes away. 3,000 metres over sea level and with 70 pistes skiable from November until May; during the summer months the Sierra Nevada Nature Park offers a variety of hiking trails.
