Aguilas
Aguilas is a typically Spanish town and is situated on the coastline of the Costa Calida. The town is surrounded by mountains which lead to a micro climate; hence over 300 days of the year there is sunshine with a unique temperate climate. The surrounding area is agricultural and the main industry is farming. All the vegetables are grown locally and orange, lemon and almond groves are in abundance. It has a beautiful fishing port and there are numerous restaurants, bars and shops. In the Plaza de Sepana there is a beautiful church and tranquil cafes for you to sit and watch the world go by. An outdoor market occurs each Saturday morning in the town and sells local produce, clothes and bric a brac. Aguilas has a Train and Bus Station which serves all major destinations. Lorca is situated 1/2 hours drive, Murcia (capital) is 1 hour and Almeria 1 hour. You have a choice of three airports- San Javier, Almeria or Alicante. There are three main beaches in Aguilas, but the whole coastline of the Costa Calida has many beaches and coves to explore. For golfers, Desert Springs Golf Course is situated 24kms outside of Aguilas and is open to the general public.
